----------------------------PENNINGTON GAP - Authorities were still looking late Thursday for the owner of a utility trailer involved in a two-vehicle accident that claimed the life of a Pennington Gap woman.
Virginia State Police Trooper Clint Martin said Linda Sue Hyden, 49, Route 2, Box 215, died at the scene after the trailer came loose from its tow vehicle and slammed into the driver's side of her late-model Toyota Camry.
Hyden was traveling south on Route 421, just south of Elk Knob Elementary School, at about 5 p.m. when the accident occurred.
Martin said witnesses reported that the driver of the tow vehicle failed to stop at the scene after the impact and continued northbound on Route 421 toward Pennington Gap.
Some witnesses reported that the tow vehicle may have been a 1980s or 1990s style General Motors pickup truck, said Martin.
The trailer did not have a license plate or a readily apparent vehicle identification number.
Martin asks anyone with information on the accident or the trailer to contact the VSP toll-free at 1-800-542-8716 or (276)228-3131.
